Settings

The following settings are available in the Flight Log module. 

They have been already set up for you but you can change them to better adjust the system to your needs.

Enforce tug details to be entered in aerotow flights

If this option is selected, the tug details must be entered in the flight log for aerotow launched flights. Otherwise, these details are optional.

Do not validate aircraft conflicts for private aircraft

The flight log normally carries out a thorough validation of the information entered for each flight. Aircraft conflict is one of them. The interval between take-off and landing times of different flights of the same aircraft cannot overlap.

However, there may be circumstances, specially for private aircraft, where aircraft conflict validation should not take place. 

When this option is selected, the flight log data entry screen will not carry out such validation for any private aircraft unless they are marked as “In use by the club“.

Do not validate pilot conflicts for private aircraft

If this option is selected the flight log data entry process will not validate pilot conflict amongst flights and will allow a pilot to appear in more than one flight even when the interval in which they are flying overlap.

Default payee account for the flight

When no other specific indicator is informed on the flight log record about who will be charged for the flight, the system will take this field as a reference for the paying account. 

Default height of release for aerotow launches

For aerotow launches the system will use this field to set the default value for the height of release. The user can then override at will. Enter in this field the most common height of release for aerotow launches done at your club.  

Quality assurance cycle required

You have the option of, after entering the flight log records, submit them to a verification process in which the user will visually check the records again and mark each one as “Quality assurance passed”  or “Quality assurance failed”.

Failed records will have to be corrected and the process continues until the record is marked as “Quality assurance passed”. Only then the record can be “Posted”, process in which the financial transactions are created and the paying account duly charged. 

Select this option if you want the “Quality assurance” process to be added to the data entry cycle. 

If a voucher flight takes longer than the maximum specified for the relevant voucher type, the excess time is charged to the instructor’s account at a rate proportional to the value of the voucher.

This calculation is done by the following equation:

(voucher price / qty flights entitlement / total flight time allowance for that voucher in minutes) x number of exceeding minutes.  

If this option is selected, the excess is charged to the instructor. Otherwise, no charge is created for the excess.

The system allows the charges  for a flight to be shared between P1 and P2 according to a percentage specified for each on the flight log.

Depending on the membership type of the pilots involved as well as other characteristics that may affect the flight cost calculation for each individual pilot, the price calculated for each pilot may differ.

Select one of the options from the dropdown list to tell the system how to perform the calculation in such scenarios.  

Enter the name of your club’s airfield.

This information is used by the system to refer to your airfield in some reports and enquiries.  

Depending on the set up for the flight log, it is possible to enter a flight log record without its landing time, therefore making it impossible for the calculation of the flight cost for that flight.

In such situations you can define a default flight time that the system will use to perform this calculation. Please, enter the default flight time in minutes.

The use of this feature encourages pilots to check the records of their flights with the ground crew soon after landing to make sure the times have been entered correctly, thus avoiding them to pay excessive charges for a possible default flight time.
